Introduction
Since 1973, the USPS has celebrated love with beautifully designed Love Stamps. In our busy daily lives, small gestures like a bouquet of flowers or a postcard with a Love Stamp remind us that love is grand and ever-present.
2022 USPS Forever Love Stamp
The 2022 USPS Forever Love Stamp continues this tradition with vibrant and playful designs, perfect for expressing affection.
What Is the Love Stamp?
The USPS introduced the Love Stamp series in 1973. Designed by renowned artists, these stamps use colorful and playful designs to illustrate the word “love.” According to the USPS, there are countless reasons to say “I love you” and many ways to show your care. Using a Love Stamp to mail a letter to a loved one is a special way to declare your affection, friendship, gratitude, or devotion.
Who Created the Love Stamp and When Was It Released?
The first Love Stamp was designed by pop artist Robert Indiana and released in January 1973 in Philadelphia, the “City of Brotherly Love.” This design featured Indiana’s iconic LOVE sculpture, with its slanted “O” forming a “V” between the letters. Although the USPS did not initially plan to create a series, the popularity of the Love Stamp led to new designs almost every year, typically released in January before Valentine’s Day.
What Is the Value of the Love Stamp?
The first Forever Love Stamp was issued in 2011 at 44¢. These stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail® one-ounce price. Featuring designs filled with hearts, roses, swans, and ribbons, Love Stamps are perfect for weddings, Valentine’s Day, and other love-themed occasions.
